Jeremy Matthews, CPA, CGMA, CFE - Managing Partner

With more than two decades of audit and public accounting experience, Jeremy Matthews has spent his career on a problem most organizations simply accept: the annual audit is something to survive, not something to look forward to. As Managing Partner of Culver, PLLC, he guides nonprofits, local governments, and growing businesses through the audit process with a focus on clarity, momentum, and as little disruption to their teams as possible.

That focus became a service line. Jeremy built AuditNext, Culver CPA’s modern audit practice, around a simple conviction: clients deserve the same senior team year over year, backed by the best technology available. He is deliberately tech-forward — always pivoting to the strongest tools in the profession — but he is clear about what that technology is for. It doesn’t replace the audit work; it sharpens it, helping his team see more, dig deeper, and surface issues a conventional approach would miss — often the very findings that matter most. The tools extend the team’s reach; the people bring the judgment. The result is a smoother, more transparent audit that delivers genuine insight rather than just a signature.

Not-for-profit and local government audits are the heart of Jeremy’s practice. Over his career he has audited a wide range of organizations subject to Single Audit requirements under the Uniform Guidance, pairing technical depth in compliance and grant reporting with a clear-eyed understanding of how mission-driven organizations actually operate. He has also served as a fractional CFO, giving leadership teams a strategic financial partner — cash-flow and runway analysis, forecasting, and beyond-the-numbers guidance that informs real decisions — without the cost of a full-time hire.

Jeremy’s audit career began at Watkins Uiberall, where he served on the team auditing the City of Memphis — the kind of large, complex government engagement that has shaped his approach ever since. He went on to spend three years at Joseph Decosimo & Co. (now Elliot Davis), a Top 100 firm, as an assurance senior leading audit engagements across governmental, nonprofit, and for-profit clients. After returning to Watkins Uiberall as an audit manager, he founded Culver CPA’s audit practice and has served as Managing Partner since 2016. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in accountancy from the University of Mississippi.

He is a licensed CPA in the State of Tennessee, a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) through the AICPA, and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Memphis chapter of the Tennessee Society of CPAs. In the community, Jeremy has served as Chairman of the Finance Committee at Hope Church and as Treasurer of the Tara Oaks PTA.

Away from the office, Jeremy is happiest on the water or on the slopes — boating and skiing are both lifelong passions — and he is not above jumping out of a perfectly good airplane now and then. He lives in Collierville, Tennessee, with Emily, his wife of 20 years, and their four children: Graham, Lana, Caleb, and Campbell.
